The "Clartan Ethos ESG Europe Small & Mid Cap" fund launched in September 2020 has been awarded the Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) label by an independent reference committee in the field of sustainable investment. This certification marks three years of fruitful collaboration between Ethos and Clartan Associés.

The "Clartan-Ethos ESG Europe Small & Mid Cap" equity fund has been awarded the SRI label. Created by the French government in 2016, this label distinguishes funds that implement a robust socially responsible investment (SRI) methodology leading to concrete and measurable results. Awarded by a committee of independent experts and valid for three years, it rewards funds that meet strict ESG responsibility criteria, not only in terms of management, but also in terms of transparency and communication.

The management companies of labelled funds must set themselves ESG objectives and demonstrate the rigour of their analysis methodology. They must assess the environmental benefits of their investments and take the results of these analyses into account when constructing and managing their portfolios. They must also adopt a policy of commitment and virtuous dialogue with issuers, submit to regular audits and report back to investors on whether they have achieved their objectives, in particular by calculating measurable indicators.

Vincent Kaufmann, CEO of the Ethos Foundation: "Obtaining the SRI label is recognition of the fruitful partnership between Ethos and Clartan. It attests to the implementation of rigorous ESG criteria in the selection and management of the fund's assets and demonstrates our determination to integrate ESG considerations into our investment decisions in order to create a positive long-term impact while generating solid financial returns".

Guillaume Brisset, Partner at Clartan Associés: "The SRI label also highlights the transparency and traceability of Ethos' and Clartan's ESG approaches. The labelling committee assessed our investment process, our policy of engagement with companies and our overall positive impact in the context of current environmental and social issues."

Small and mid caps managing their ESG challenges with conviction

Launched in September 2020, the "Clartan-Ethos ESG Europe Small & Mid Cap" equity fund invests in European small and mid caps that manage their ESG issues with conviction. It is aimed at institutional and private investors wishing to benefit from the significant performance potential of these companies while investing in a sustainable and responsible manner.

Ethos assesses the sustainability of all the securities in its portfolio, taking into account the double materiality approach. In addition to the traditional ESG analysis, Ethos also measures the percentage of the activities of the companies analysed within the ten areas of activity that are considered to have a positive impact on the environment or civil society according to the methodology developed by Ethos. The carbon footprint and climate strategy are also taken into account. At the same time, Clartan applies a financial analysis ("Quality & Value") that enables it to select securities that create value over the long term and to make the final composition of the portfolio.
